The Pansy Project @ RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show!

I’m delighted to announce that The Pansy Project is presenting a garden in the ‘Conceptual Garden’ category of the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2010! This exciting opportunity is the result of an application made to the RHS which was devised by myself and my brother Tom Harfleet. Tom is a garden designer and was invited to submit an application; it was he who suggested we work on a design together using The Pansy Project as a conceptual hook for the garden. The resulting collaboration is intended to visually represent The Pansy Project and the work I have been doing for the past five years.

Thousands of pansies will grow within the crevices of a ‘shattered’ concrete structural form which is intended to metaphorically represent the disruptive nature of the homophobic violence The Pansy Project confronts and memorialises. We’re already working with BNE Landscapes on the architectural elements of the garden and over the next few months we will be updating the blog with news of our progress. You can also follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/ThePansyProject and http://twitter.com/tomharfleet we will be endeavouring to keep you updated on the building of the garden as it happens.

  2. Brilliant idea - love the fact that it will be at an RHS Show as well - rather than a very run of the mill manicured show garden, something a little conceputual much like the gardens of Chaumont and Westonbirt - well done you!
